Biography

Born in 1962 in Hollywood, California, Robert Burt is a self-taught artist and has achieved extensive experience in being the driving force behind his numerous self-founded, bohemian projects. His first experiences in being a one-man show- curator, director, founder, and promoter- started with the underground nightclub scene in the 80´s and 90´s in California. Over the period of 10 years, Robert founded and promoted four avant-garde clubs- Activity, Atlas, Go, and Geraldine. Geraldine, the most popular of the underground theatrical productions in a nightclub setting, lasted until 1994, when Robert began to study ceramics under the guidance of two master painters and sculptors. Later this same year, he opened his first galleria and studio, Garage, in San Diego, California.
For over ten years,Robert produced around 70 ceramic pieces. Robert maintained Garage for nine years until 2003, when he moved to Barcelona to found Base Elements Urban Art Gallery. Since then, Base Elements has attracted urban artists from both Barcelona and all over the world and continues to grow in popularity!
